It seems like enthusiasts are always trying to figure out what Mazda's cooking up. Today, we're curious about how the Japanese automaker will bring its sport-roadster experience to a partnership with Alfa Romeo. A 1965 Maserati 3500 GT will cross the block at the Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., Jan. 19-23, 2011. The vehicle is one of more than 2,000 Maserati 3500 GT models produced from 1955 through 1966.

Heady words, but they're nicely backed up by a supercharged version of the 4.7-liter Alfa V8 cranking out 600 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. That's up from approximately 450 hp and 346 lb-ft on a stock Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Tweaks supporting the force-fed mill include a water-to-air intercooler, custom injectors and revised fuel and ignition mapping, plus a variable stainless-steel exhaust system.
